How Does Barcelona’s 100% Home Record Compare to the Premier League’s Best?

On Sunday, the 17th of May, Barcelona beat Real Betis 3-1. It was the final home game of the Blaugrana’s campaign. It was also their 19th home league win of a brilliant title-winning season. That means they have won every La Liga match at Camp Nou in 2025/26.
It is an astonishing feat by Hansi Flick’s men. Moreover, it is the first time any club has maintained a 100% home record across a 38-match La Liga campaign. There have been many truly great Barca and Real Madrid sides over the years. However, the fact that none managed to win all of their home clashes shows just how special this achievement is.
Dominant La Liga Success
Barca sealed their 29th league title a week ago when they beat Real Madrid 2-0. That Clásico victory on the 10th of May gave them an unassailable lead at the top of the table. The Catalans made a relatively slow start to the 2025/26 season. Indeed, they were second to Real for most of the season until the end of November.
However, Real’s results began to slip. That resulted in the dismissal of Xabi Alonso, recently appointed as Chelsea boss, in early January. Later that same month, Los Blancos returned to the top. It did briefly look like we might end up with an enthralling title race. But ultimately, the side from the Spanish capital has not been able to keep pace with Flick’s men.
With one game of the season to go, Barca have an 11-point advantage at the top of the standings. They have scored 21 more goals than their great rivals and have conceded the same number as Real. Barca have won 31 of their 37 matches thus far, with 19 of those coming in front of their fans.
Blistering Run Seals Title
Since Madrid briefly returned to the Liga summit, Barca reeled off 11 wins in a row. After sealing the title by beating Real, they then lost at Alaves. However, they were back to their best against Real Betis and made sure of that historic 19th straight home league victory.
If they win their final game at Valencia, they will move to 97 points. That is just three shy of the record tally of 100 points Madrid earned in 2011/12, and which Barca, incredibly, matched 12 months later. However, it would be the fourth-best tally ever achieved in the Spanish top flight. Additionally, the win would see them match the record of 32 La Liga wins in a single campaign. Los Blancos and Barca both achieved that in their respective 100-point campaigns mentioned above.
First 19 from 19, but not First 100% Record
As noted, this is the first time in La Liga history that a side has won 100% of their home games in a 38-match season. However, it is not the first time a team has managed a 100% record in front of their fans.
In fact, that has happened several times before. Barca themselves have achieved it four times, most recently in 1959/60. However, back then, there were just 16 clubs in the Spanish top flight. Consequently, Barca won 15 out of 15 on home soil that year. They had also managed the same feat 12 months earlier, while Real Madrid also won all their home games in 1959/60.
Indeed, in total, a 100% home record has been achieved 11 times in La Liga now. Athletic Bilbao were the first to enjoy a perfect home campaign. In 1933/34, they won nine out of nine. Additionally, two years later, they had another 100% home record, this time winning 11 of 11. Barca then raised the benchmark by becoming the first side to win all 13 home games in 1948/49. La Liga expanded once more, and in 1952/53 the Catalan giants won all 15 home fixtures.
Prior to 2025/26, it was Real Madrid who held the record for the most wins in a 100% home-record campaign. In 1985/86, they were the first, and still only, club to claim victory in all of their home fixtures in an 18-team La Liga (17 home wins).
What is the Premier League Record?
Several Spanish clubs have gone through a whole campaign without dropping any points at home. But what about the Premier League? Arsenal’s “Invincibles” famously went unbeaten during the 2003/04 campaign. However, they drew 12 times overall, including four times at home.
Manchester City match Real Madrid and Barca in terms of winning 100 points and earning 32 wins. They did that in 2017/18. However, they drew with Everton and Huddersfield at the Etihad. In fact, they also lost a home game that term, a painful 3-2 defeat to Manchester United.
55 out of 57 Ain’t Bad
55 out of 57 ain’t bad, as the old saying doesn’t quite go. Four clubs have managed that in the Premier League era. That equates to 18 wins and a draw from their home games over the course of a 38-game, 20-team PL campaign.
Chelsea were the first club to go so close to a perfect 19 from 19. They dropped just two points at home as Jose Mourinho led them to the title with 91 points. Their only slip was a 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic in mid-January.
In 2010/11, Man United matched Chelsea’s achievement under Sir Alex Ferguson. Unsurprisingly, they also won the title. West Bromwich Albion were the only team to deny them at Old Trafford, the Baggies claiming a 2-2 draw.
Next, Man City then joined the club, doing so the following season. This was before Pep Guardiola was boss, and it was Roberto Mancini who led them to a near-perfect home campaign. It was City’s first title in 44 years, and Sunderland were the only club to deny them on home soil, the game being a pulsating 3-3 draw.
The fourth and most recent club to win 18 and draw one at home was Liverpool. The Reds matched the other three in 2019/20 when they finally won the Premier League title for the first time. They were magnificent all season, accumulating 99 points in total. Burnley denied them a 100% record at Anfield, clinching a 1-1 draw. It was Liverpool’s penultimate home game of the season, too.
100% Kings
Of course, English football pre-dates the Premier League era. However, even going back all the way to the first season of the English top flight, only one club can boast a 100% home record. And that is Sunderland.
All the way back in 1891/92, the Black Cats won the league. They won 21 of their 26 matches. That included a perfect 13 from 13 at home. Lucky for some! But still unmatched to this day.
