Dota 2 & LoL EWC 2026 Recap – How PARIVISION and Dplus Took the Titles

The Esports World Cup 2026 has started, and we have already had the chance to watch several top-tier games, including Dota 2 and League of Legends. Both were among the most anticipated series at the EWC 2026, and now that they are over, it’s time to step back and see what happened.

Each of the two tournament series gave us far more surprises than we expected. With that in mind, it is time to examine each game and see who won. Some of the results definitely surprised me, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Dota 2 Esports World Cup Analysis

The Dota 2 Esports World Cup took place in Paris between July 7-19, and it features a total of 24 teams. The event organisers split them into 4 groups of 6 teams each, and we got to see many interesting results even in the group stage.

Starting with Group A, Team Falcons, BB Team, Rune Eaters, and Xtreme Gaming were those that survived. Nigma Galaxy, Aurora Gaming, Team Liquid, and PTime from Group B joined them.

Moving to Group C, PARIVISION, Team Spirit, Vici Gaming and MOUZ successfully dealt with the rest and advanced to the playoffs. Lastly, Group D featured 1w, LGD Gaming, and Virtus.pro. OG is the big disappointment here because the Filipino roster failed to exit the group stage. This comes at a time when the organisation has made huge changes.

Survival & Playoffs

The survival matches at the Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2026 featured three rounds of Bo1 Matches. After all of the games were over, these 4 teams successfully eliminated the rest and proceeded to the next stage:

• BetBoom Team
• Vici Gaming
• Team Spirit
• Rune Eaters

BetBoom Team faced LGD Gaming, while Vici faced PTime and 1w. Team Spirit had a deadly clash versus Team Liquid, whereas Rune Eaters successfully defeated Virtus.pro, followed by Aurora Gaming. This was the biggest surprise of this stage because no one expected this team to do well.

Once the playoffs arrived, we had another series of single-bracket Bo3 matches. After an epic battle, PARIVISION won the game, and it did that with little to no effort.

The champions were almost flawless in the Group Stage as they only dropped a single game. After securing a slot for the playoffs, the team defeated Rune Eaters and Team Yandex to secure a slot for the Grand Final. After that, PARIVISION faced BetBoom Team.

The final had everything a Dota 2 fan can want. Despite PARIVISION being the favourites, Game 1 went in favour of BetBoom Team, as their KOTL and Clinkz draft proved very strong. Sadly, the team’s luck ended there, as PARIVISION demolished them in the next match.

Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov and his teammates secured three consecutive maps and won the big prize of $750,000. BetBoom will go home with $340,000, whereas Team Yandex (they defeated Vici Gaming in the third-place match) will get $200,000.

The International 2026

We are still a few months away from the International 2026, but Dota 2 betting fans are already taking notes. Considering the importance of the Esports World Cup 2026, the results here will have an impact on the tournament. PARIVISION seems to be on the rise, so we’ll have to wait to see if it can lift the Aegis.

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2026 Recap

Although much shorter, the League of Legends Esports World Cup 2026 was also a joy to watch. We saw the best 16 teams in the world compete over 4 days (July 15-17) for a prize pool of $2,000,000.

The 16 teams were divided into four groups, but the interesting part is that all matches were single-elimination. Instead of just one winner, each group ended up with two teams qualifying for the tournament’s next stage.

Starting with Group A, AG.AL and Dplus stood out. They defeated G2 Esports and FURIA to secure their slot for the next stage.

Moving on to Group B, Gen.G and Karmine Corp outperformed Sentinels and Team Secret. T1 and Bilibili Gaming did well in Group C and also advanced to the next stage, but T1 actually lost to their Chinese counterparts and got the 2nd qualifying slot. Lastly, we have Group D, where Hanwha Life and JD Gaming had little to no issues. They defeated LYON and MIBR.LOS.

The Playoffs & Winner

The LoL Esports World Cup 2026 playoffs were a dream come true for every League of Legends player. We had the chance to see all of the best teams, and people who’ve read our LoL betting predictions even took advantage of the excellent odds.

The quarterfinals offered us some amazing matches, such as T1 vs Hanwa Life and Bilibili Gaming vs Dplus. As expected, T1 and Dplus defeated their opponents, which meant it was time for the two semifinals – Karmine Corp vs T1 and Gen. G vs Dplus.

Karmine Corp entered 2026 in excellent form and lived up to the high expectations. The team defeated the legendary South Korean powerhouse T1 and secured a place in the final.

Speaking of the final, the team faced Dplus after the latter dealt with Gen.G. Anything could have happened in this match, but Jeon “Siwoo” Si-woo and his team showed greater determination. Following a 2-1 victory, Dplus advanced to the Grand Final.

The Bo5 Grand Final was one of those matches where we expected a bloodbath. However, Dplus was a level above Karmien Corp and secured a clean 0-3 victory. All three games were around 30 minutes, which shows that Dplus was just better out of the two.

Lastly, we have the third-place match between T1 and Gen. G. Although most experts predicted T1 would win, Gen.G claimed the series 2–1 and secured third place.

In terms of the prize pool distribution, Dplus ended up with $600,000, followed by $340,000 for Karmine Corp and $220,000 for Gen. G Esports. T1 came in 4th with $140,000.

What’s next for the Esports World Cup 2026?

Considering that the Esports World Cup 2026 will end on August 23, we have over a month left ot epic matches. Dota 2 and LoL’s competitions might be over, but there are more games that we will have access to.

The CS2 event is probably the most anticipated one and for a good reason. It will be held between August 12 and 23, and we will see 32 teams in total. Make sure to follow everything because it’s definitely one of the events you don’t want to miss out on.

Remember, this is the biggest esports event of the year, with a combined prize pool of around $75,000,000.
