Newcastle tussle with Man City at St James’ Park in gameweek 12 of the English Premier League (EPL) season. City aims to close the gap on Arsenal at the top, while the home side seeks a sixth straight home win.
Kick-off is 5:30 pm, 22nd November 2025. Samuel Barrott will referee his 14th match this season.
Newcastle vs Man City Prediction
Based on City’s superior H2H record and stunning recent form, my first prediction is Man City to win. The Cityzens can silence the Tyneside crowd and snatch 3 points this weekend.
Aston Villa and Brighton showed City’s vulnerability away from home. But Newcastle’s only recent win over Man City came in a September 2023 League Cup tie. So, I doubt whether Newcastle believe they can beat Pep Guardiola’s men.
I also consider over 2.5 goals more likely to happen than under 2.5. Man City hit 3+ goals in each of their last 4 games. The Sky Blues average 2.09 goals per game in the league. Newcastle also need goals to improve their league position.
Newcastle Analysis
Newcastle are fourteenth in the EPL table (W3 D3 L5) on 12 points, with 11 goals scored and 14 conceded. This -3 goal difference highlights their struggles at both ends of the pitch. Only Leeds, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves have scored fewer EPL goals in 2025/26.
The Magpies are winless away from home in the league this term. A run of 3 straight EPL away defeats includes 3-1 losses at Brentford and West Ham.
Yet, Eddie Howe’s men are a different team at home (W3 D0 L2), winning 5 straight games in all competitions at St James’ Park. The Magpies dealt with Fulham (2-1) and Nottingham Forest (2-0) in the EPL. They also racked up Champions League wins over Athletic Bilbao (2-0) and Benfica (3-0).
Yoane Wissa and Tino Livramento both miss this game with knee injuries. Lewis Hall (hamstring) is also unlikely to feature. Anthony Gordon (hip) has a 50:50 chance to start. But Nick Pope is back after passing concussion protocols.
Dan Burn misses this game after his 9th November sending-off at Brentford.

Player in Focus
Nick Woltemade – Newcastle’s number 27 has 4 goals in 8 EPL matches. He also hit 3 for Germany during the international break. Check out Woltemade over 0.5 shots on target (1.72 at Coral), but he’s up against a Man City defence that’s leaked just 8 league goals.
Man City Analysis
Man City gained 22 points from their opening 11 EPL games (W7 D1 L3) to occupy second place in the standings, 4 points behind first-place Arsenal.
City’s recent form is excellent in all competitions. Pep Guardiola marked his 1,000th match in charge with a 3-0 win over Liverpool in gameweek 11. That victory took Man City to four wins in a row after beating Dortmund (4-1), Bournemouth (3-1), and Swansea (3-1).
Man City top the EPL’s scoring charts with 23 goals in 11 games. But some patchy away results (W2 D1 L2) give cause for concern, as seen in a ninth-round 1-0 loss at Aston Villa.
Mateo Kovacic’s upcoming achilles surgery rules him out until sometime in 2026. Rodri faces a late fitness test to make the starting eleven.

Player in Focus
Jeremy Doku – I am interested in odds of 2.50 (Bet365) for Doku to score or assist. The Belgian winger scored against Liverpool and can add to his 1 goal and 3 assists in 11 EPL outings.
Newcastle vs Man City Possible Lineups

Cityzens to break Newcastle hearts
Man City will cruise to their fifth victory in a row, ending Newcastle’s 5-game home winning sequence. In a high-scoring clash, a City victory should keep the pressure on league leaders Arsenal.
