Arsenal tackle Newcastle in game round 34 of this 2025/26 English Premier League (PL) season, as both teams struggle for form. The Gunners are coming off a chastening 2-1 defeat at title rivals Man City, their second league defeat in a row.
The Magpies have lost three successive league matches by a single goal. Last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth left Eddie Howe’s men rooted in 14th place. Despite their inconsistent form, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are expected to beat Newcastle in this Saturday’s 5:30 pm kick-off.

Will Arsenal Or Newcastle Regain Their Confidence?
In recent weeks, Arsenal have gone from a possible quadruple to two remaining shots at glory: the Premier League and Champions League. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has a colossal task to raise spirits after last Sunday’s 2-1 loss at Man City, as the Gunners slipped to second place in the PL table.
Yet, Newcastle are also short of confidence after a four-match losing run. They crashed out of the Champions League to Barcelona, losing the second leg 7-2, then lost three PL games by a 2-1 scoreline, including the Tyne-Wear derby at home to Sunderland.
Which team will rebound from those recent setbacks?
What Markets Should You Check?
The pre-match Arsenal-Newcastle betting suggests an easy Arsenal win, and it’s difficult to oppose that. The Gunners boast a 75% win rate at home in the league (W12 D2 L2), conceding just 11 times at the Emirates all season.
Newcastle have a poor away form in 2025-26, picking up only 16 points in as many away games. However, looking beyond the stats, the Magpies did win on their last two visits to the capital, beating Tottenham 2-1 and Chelsea 1-0 this year.
I look at both teams to score “no” based on the season stats. Arsenal have won seven of 12 home games to nil. Also, Newcastle failed to score in six of 16 PL away matches.
Looking at the goal-scorer options, both teams’ attacks are struggling. But whether he starts or as an impact sub, I pick Kai Havertz to score (2.55 odds). As seen away at Sporting Lisbon and Man City, the German is capable of opportunistic strikes.
Best Predictions For The Match
My first prediction is Arsenal to beat Newcastle, even at short odds of 1.50. The Gunners have won only one in five games, but their possession-based game can stifle the Magpies and create scoring chances. Plus, Newcastle lack the quick transitions of Man United or Bournemouth, who won at Arsenal this term.
Newcastle’s defence has conceded just 21 times in 16 PL away clashes, and I cannot see Arsenal winning by two clear goals. So, the Arsenal -1 handicap looks too short (1.72 odds).
For an alternative betting option, look to the goal markets. Arsenal’s innate caution under Mikel Arteta and their recent wobbles point to a narrow win and a low-scoring game against Newcastle.
First, both teams not to score (2.15 odds) is my preference to 1.80 for BTTS “yes”, based on Arsenal’s mean defence (26 conceded in 33 PL matches) and Newcastle’s poor away scoring record.
Secondly, I prefer under 2.5 goals (odds of 2.30) compared to over 2.5 goals (1.61 odds). Although the markets suggest goals based on Newcastle conceding 13 goals in four outings, seven of those were at Barcelona.
Key Statistics
- Arsenal are the league’s second-highest scorers (63 goals scored in 33 games).
- Newcastle have suffered eight defeats in their last 11 league matches.
- The last ten H2Hs included five Newcastle wins and four Arsenal victories.
- Arsenal won twice against Newcastle in 2025, winning 1-0 at home and 2-1 away.
- Only one of the last ten Arsenal-Newcastle games was drawn – back in January 2023.
- Newcastle last won a PL match at Arsenal in November 2010.
Predicted Lineups and Missing Players
- Arsenal (4-3-3): David Raya, Christian Mosquera, Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, Piero Hincapie – Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard – Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli – Kai Havertz
Mikel Merino (foot) is sidelined, while Riccardo Calafiori (knock), Bukayo Saka (achilles), and Jurrien Timber (ankle) may miss this game.
- Newcastle (4-3-3): Aaron Ramsdale – Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman, Malick Thiaw, Lewis Hall – Sandro Tonali, Lewis Miley, Jacob Ramsey – Harvey Barnes, Anthony Elanga, William Osula
The Magpies could be without Tino Livramento (muscle injury), Anthony Gordon (hip), Emil Krafth (knee), and Fabian Schar (ankle). Joelinton is suspended.
Gunners To Grab Narrow Victory
Arsenal can repeat last season’s 1-0 success over Newcastle. The Gunners will take advantage of Newcastle’s shaky confidence to record a narrow win, keeping the pressure on Man City in the title race.
