Stamford Bridge has never been a happy hunting ground for Tottenham – or any kind of hunting ground at all, for that matter. The Lilywhites have visited Chelsea 34 times in Premier League history and fallen prey on 22 of those occasions. In fact, Tottenham have only ever come out as alphas once at Stamford Bridge, during the peak of their powers under Pochettino. So, do they have any hope come Saturday evening?

Before we get into our Chelsea vs Tottenham preview, let’s take a look back at our predictions from last week, where we had a bit of a stormer. We backed a double winner in Tottenham 3-1 Coventry, with Spurs leading at the end of both halves, and the corner count falling below 9.5. We also picked one winner and one loser from the three games involving Brighton, Man City, and Arsenal, leaving us with some lovely profit!

Now, onto Chelsea vs Tottenham…

Chelsea and Tottenham Form Guide

Tottenham and Chelsea have had polarising starts to the 2026/27 Premier League season, with the Blues flying high and the Lilywhites treading water.

Only Manchester City and Brighton have scored more than Chelsea so far this year, which comes as no surprise since they boast a front three of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, and Joao Pedro. They put four past Brighton on opening day, six past Leeds in the League Cup, and five past Bournemouth in a resounding 5-1 home win. Last time out, they beat a stubborn and solid Everton 2-0 to retain their spot in the Premier League top four.

However, Enzo Maresca’s side can be got at. In the top half, only Ipswich Town has conceded more than Chelsea’s 13 goals this season. In comparison, Man City have let in just seven, while Arsenal and Brighton have only been breached five times each. Even Spurs have only conceded 10 goals this campaign, despite sitting down in 16th.

The Lilywhites come into this clash off the back of a long-awaited first win of the season against Coventry City. Roberto De Zerbi will be hoping it is a springboard to greater things, as Tottenham finally look to turn their impressive attacking play into actual goals. However, take away that Monday night victory, and Spurs had only scored three times in their opening six fixtures.

Tottenham’s record at Stamford Bridge

Tottenham have made the short trip over to Stamford Bridge 34 times since the Premier League launched back in 1992. Unfortunately, not only can you count Spurs’ victories away at Chelsea on one hand, but you can also count them on one finger. How distant a memory that famous Dele Alli brace in 2018 now seems for the Spurs faithful. Since then, it has been business as usual for the Blues, sweeping Tottenham aside seven times in the next eight years.

  • Games: 34
  • Chelsea wins: 22
  • Draws: 11
  • Tottenham wins: 1

Chelsea and Spurs Injury News

Chelsea and Spurs both come into the London derby with a fair few walking wounded. De Zerbi and Maresca will hope to avoid a Battle of the Bridge type match, or those injury lists could get even longer come Sunday morning! The two managers will reveal whether any of the ‘doubts’ are available to return in their press conferences on Friday.

Chelsea injuries and doubts:

  • Reece James (Knee)
  • Emmanuel Emegha (knock)
  • Jamie Gittens (Ankle/foot)
  • Malo Gusto (Virus)

Chelsea vs Tottenham Predicted XIs

Chelsea XI: Penders; Colwill, Lacroix, Acheampong; Hato, Caicedo, Henderson, Neto; Rogers, Pedro, Palmer.

Tottenham XI: Kinsky; Van de Ven, Senesi, Van Hecke, Porro; Tonali, Gray, Maddison; Marmoush, Solanke, Kudus.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Betting Predictions

Although Tottenham undoubtedly turned a corner against Coventry on Monday, it may be a little too early to expect them to defeat a 30-year-old Stamford Bridge curse. Unfortunately, I find it hard to see past a Chelsea win here, with Pedro, Palmer, and Rogers just too much to handle for Van Hecke and co. Hopefully, Spurs at least give a good account of themselves.
