The biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year is almost here, as we are slowly preparing for The International 2026. The Nostrabet team and I know that the tournament will offer amazing betting opportunities, so it’s time to learn everything about the competition. TI15 will start on August 13 and run until August 23 in Shanghai, China, so let’s dive deep into it.

The International 2026 Overview & Format

Also called TI15, the competition will feature 16 world-class Dota 2 teams from every region. As mentioned, the event will be in Shanghai, China, and it’s brought to us by Valve and PGL. People who happen to secure TI15 tickets can visit the Oriental Sports Center to watch the playoffs in real time.

In terms of The International 2026 format, we will have three separate stages:

  • Group Stage
  • Elimination Round
  • Main Event

The Group Stage will use the popular Swiss system, meaning teams must secure three victories to advance. All 16 teams will be playing in one group, and the top three will advance directly to the playoffs. The bottom three will be eliminated, whereas everyone else will proceed to the elimination round.

The elimination round is where we will see five teams joining the other three. In other words, all of the other teams that reach this stage will be eliminated.

Lastly, we have the Main Event between August 20 and August 23. This is where people can watch it live, and we will have a double-elimination bracket. Like in previous TIs, this one has Bo3 games and a Bo5 Grand Final.

The International 2026 Prize Pool

Dota 2 fans remember that The International was the esports tournament with the highest prize pool before. Even though it’s not close to its 2021 peak, when the reward was over $40M, it remains an attractive option for players.

At the time of writing, the prize pool for The International 2026 is around $2.8M. This makes it the biggest reward in 2026 so far, followed closely by the Esports World Cup 2026, which had a $2M prize.

Keep in mind that the base prize pool of the event is $1.6. Unlike before, Valve does not have a Battle Pass or Compendium because it allows people to earn rewards during the event itself. People can also purchase the so-called supporter bundle, where 30% of the prize goes directly to the event’s prize pool.

The team that wins TI15 will get 42.5% of the reward, followed by 13% for the second team and 9% for the third one.

TI15 Teams & Betting Favorites

The International 2026 teams consist of the best Dota 2 squads in the world right now. Seven of them received a direct invitation, whereas the remaining nine had to play in The International regional qualifiers. Now that all of them are over, here is the final list of teams we will see in Shanghai:

  • Aurora Gaming
  • Team Liquid
  • Team Vision
  • Vici Gaming
  • BoomBoys
  • Team Yandex
  • Nigma Galaxy
  • Iron Wing
  • Xtreme Gaming
  • HULIGANI
  • GamerLegion
  • Team Falcons
  • Team Spirit
  • LGD Gaming
  • Team Resilience

Although each of these Dota 2 teams can potentially lift the Aegis, people who’ve been following the competitive scene in 2026 can easily spot the four big favourites. I know that many of you would want to bet on The International 2026, so here’s what you need to know.

As I said, all regions have their representatives, but Europe is clearly dominating. Aside from having the most teams, all of the favourites you are about to see below come from there. There was a time when Chinese teams dominated professional Dota 2, but that has not been the case for the last 10 years. Southeast Asia also lacks that many teams, which is strange because it’s one of the fan-favourite Dota 2 regions.

Team Vision is the Top Dog Right Now

PARIVISION (the team is playing under the Team Vision name in this event) is probably the best Dota 2 team in the world right now. In addition to its stable results throughout the year, this is the squad that lifted the Esports World Cup 2026 trophy. This happened not so long ago, which is crucial because Dota 2 is a game where a team is as good as its most recent performance.

PARIVISION has an excellent team that consists of people with many years of experience and the hottest Dota 2 talent right now. Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov is probably the first name that comes to mind, and everyone will pay close attention to his performance.

BoomBoys is in an Excellent Position to Lift the Aegis

Outside of PARIVISION, we have BetBoom Team (called BoomBoys for TI15). This has also been one of the most consistent Dota 2 teams throughout 2026, and it has the results to show it. The club’s most recent big victory came at the PGL Wallachia Season 8, but the squad also finished second at the EWC 2026.

Having the likes of Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko, Danil “gpk” Skutin and Vitalie “Save-” Melnic puts BoomBoys in an excellent chance to win. The players are eager to lift the most prestigious trophy in Dota 2 and will do everything to achieve their goal.

Team Yandex – The Underrated Favourite

Team Yandex is another interesting name that TI15 has to offer, and it’s one of the more controversial selections. Judging by the players alone, the squad does not seem to have the experience of the “big dogs”. However, if we analyse its performance in 2026, we can clearly see that Team Yandex has been on another level.

The team ended 2015 with a win at DreamLeague Season 27 and won the PGL Wallachia Season 7 and BLAST SLAM VII in 2026. It also finished 3rd at the Esports World Cup. Considering all that, it’s no surprise that many UK bookies believe the squad is on another level.

Honorable Mentions

The three European teams mentioned above are clearly in a better position for a TI15 victory, but this doesn’t mean there aren’t other solid picks. Team Falcons, for example, can be a solid choice and has what it takes to win. The squad actually joins this event as the current champion, but 2026 has not been as good for them as 2025.

Team Spirit is another two-time TI winner that has all the chances to lift the Aegis. Yatoro and his teammates haven’t had the best year, but they have proven countless times that they can upset everyone.

The same is true for Team Liquid, one of the most experienced teams at this tournament. They are in a very similar state to Team Spirit, but this does not mean you should underestimate them.

The International 2026 Betting Options

Outside of welcoming the best Dota 2 teams in the world, The International 2026 will be a key event for sports bettors. The number of options you will find will depend heavily on the bookie you pick. We have reviews of the best bookies in the UK, and all of them will offer you at least a couple of interesting options.

The Outright winner market is the one many people focus on because it lets you choose the team you believe will win. I browsed several sites, and Team Vision/BoomBoys are the two big favourites. As I said, however, there are several underdogs that can surprise them, so keep that in mind.

When it comes to individual match betting, you may come across a lot of alternatives if you choose the right bookie. Beyond the popular choices like totals and handicaps, many sites offer Dota-2-specific betting markets.

For example, some bookies will let you bet on things like the first blood. This term describes the first kill in the game, which grants bonus resources and motivation.

You can also find special markets for Roshan, which is the biggest NPC in the game and it drops a crucial item. There may also be markets related to certain heroes and/or items, or even different combos.

Live betting can also be a solid choice for betting on The International 2026. Dota 2 is a very dynamic game, so people who pay close attention to the match can usually find good opportunities. Just make sure to keep track of what’s going on.

Conclusion

Overall, The International 2026 promises to be an excellent tournament for Dota 2 fans and online bettors. It’s a place where people can find the best teams and players from around the globe. Those wishing to bet will notice that some bookies will provide a lot more options than others, so analyse everything to see what works for you.
