English Premier League (EPL) game round 5 features Man United at home to Chelsea. Kick off at Old Trafford will be 5:30 pm on Saturday, 20 September 2025. These two Premiership heavyweights clash in a mouth-watering early evening game.
English referee Peter Bankes will boss the action.
Match Prediction
These big matches are always tough to predict. The draw final result is a good play here. You can get odds of 3.80 for the match to finish all square. Man United will be looking to get at least a point on the board, as boss Ruben Amorim is under huge pressure. I am tempted to back Chelsea at 2.50 (Betfred). But these important games are usually cautious, as neither team wants to give much away.
My other main suggestion is Both Teams To Score “No” at 2.63 with Betfred. This looks like a better value than BTTS “Yes” at just 1.53 with Ladbrokes. United are not a high-scoring team. They were the fifth-lowest-scoring Premier League team last season. Ruben Amorim’s system with three central defenders may restrict Chelsea’s opportunities.
Man United Latest News
As we move into late September, the mood around Old Trafford is not positive. After over £250 million of summer investment in the squad, there are few signs of improvement. United head coach Ruben Amorim needs his new signings to kick-start their season. Much rests on the shoulders of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko. At the other end, the goalkeeper position remains uncertain.
United’s main long-term injury is Lisandro Martinez with a knee problem. Mason Mount (knock), Diogo Dalot (muscle), and Matheus Cunha (hamstring) are selection doubts. The Red Devils squad has no suspended players.
Last Sunday’s devastating 3-0 loss at Man City saw Man United plunge to 14th place in the EPL standings. They’ve gained only four points from their opening four EPL matches. The sole win was a stoppage time victory over Burnley. As well as a 1-1 draw at Fulham, plus the 17 August 1-0 home loss. United are struggling for goals with a minus 3 goal difference (4 scored vs 7 conceded).

Player in Focus
Bryan Mbeumo – The £65+ million summer buy from Brentford has been United’s main bright spark this term. Even though he’s yet to score for United in the league, Mbeumo looks a pacy and direct goal threat from the right flank. You can back him to score anytime at 3.50 on Coral sportsbook.
Chelsea Latest News
Hopes are high at Stamford Bridge. Since the summer 2025 Club World Cup win, Chelsea’s squad has grown in confidence. Blues supporters expect them to challenge for major honours on all fronts. Enzo Maresca has excellent strength in depth in every position, so Chelsea is in a good place.
Chelsea’s main injury is Levi Colwill (ACL knee) for the whole campaign. Liam Delap (hamstring) is out until around mid-November. Dario Essugo (thigh) won’t be available.
Chelsea head into this match undefeated in the league, as they sit in 5th place in the EPL table. Last time out, they stuttered with a 2-2 draw away at Brentford. That came on the back of beating Fulham 2-0 and West Ham 5-1. However, the Blues suffered a 3-1 Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich on 17 September. So, they will be looking to rebound to form at Old Trafford.

Player in Focus
Cole Palmer – The ice-cool forward is now back from injury and ready to inspire Chelsea. He scored at Bayern Munich on Wednesday, and can get amongst the goals here. Ladbrokes 6.50 for Palmer to score first looks an interesting play.

Man United vs Chelsea Head to Head
In previous meetings between these two sides, there’s been an incredible 7 seven draws out of 10 matches. Also, 7 of those matches finished with under 2.5 goals. Suggesting a cagey game when these two heavyweights match up.
