The English Premier League (EPL) Golden Boot is awarded to the league’s leading goalscorer. Several strikers are eager to top the scorer charts and become fan favourites.
Betting on the top goalscorer is popular, as it offers interest across the campaign. The eventual winner is often unpredictable due to injuries, changes in form, fixtures, and whether a player takes penalties.
I will analyse the current best price odds, highlight the key contenders, and give three value predictions.

Top Goalscorer Odds Explained
The EPL top goalscorer is an outright betting market.
Betting on a top goalscorer at odds of 6.0 has a 17% probability (true chance) of winning. Bookmakers set the odds based on a team’s attacking style, whether a player takes penalties, and previous goalscoring form.
Look for value in this betting market, rather than picking the obvious favourite.
EPL Top Goalscorer: Main Contenders
The following players are the top contenders to win the 2025-26 Golden Boot.
Erling Haaland

Best odds: 2.10 at Betfred
Despite losing out to Mo Salah for last season’s Golden Boot, two-time EPL top goalscorer Haaland is the betting favourite.
City’s leading striker is aiming for another prolific season, as he strives to improve on 22 goals last term. Yet, other forwards may offer better value at higher prices.
Viktor Gyokeres

Best odds: 7.0 (Bet365)
Arsenal’s big-money signing has already bagged two goals in his first two EPL games. Seen as the missing piece in Mikel Arteta’s squad, the Swedish international will receive plenty of goal-scoring chances. He’ll also be Arsenal’s main penalty taker.
Hugo Ekitike

Best odds: 13.0 (Betway)
Liverpool’s new forward has high hopes for the coming season. He’s hit the ground running for The Reds with two strikes from two EPL games.
Playing in a fluid front three, he looks capable of scoring lots of goals on a free-scoring Liverpool side. However, the potential signing of Aleksander Isak could limit Ekitike’s playing time.
Mohamed Salah
Best odds: 10.0 (William Hill)
Defending Golden Boot holder Salah struck 29 times to propel Liverpool to the 2024-2025 Premiership title. Generous 10.0 odds reflect his absence for the African Cup of Nations. But Salah has 30+ EPL fixtures to climb the top scorer table. He’s also Liverpool’s first-choice penalty taker. Plus, the new buy, Florian Wirtz, should supply even more scoring opportunities.
Aleksandr Isak
Best odds: 17.0 (Betway)
Once the Swede’s future gets sorted, his 17.0 odds could be real value. Scorer of 23 goals in his 24/25 debut Newcastle campaign, Isak is a complete centre forward and lethal in the box.
Joao Pedro
Best odds: 17.0 (Ladbrokes)
Chelsea’s big-money summer signing has a proven pedigree. With 19 goals in 58 games for previous club Brighton. So far, he has four goals in four games for The Blues. The Brazil striker is interesting at 17.0 odds.
Cole Palmer
Best odds: 26.0 (Ladbrokes)
2025 Ballon d’Or nominee Palmer is currently out injured, hence his generous odds. When the Chelsea penalty taker returns, he’s sure to get chances to add many goals. Plus, 37 EPL goals in the last two seasons show he’s capable of scoring plenty at this level.
Top Scorer Outsiders
Besides the market leaders, let’s examine some alternative selections at bigger odds.
Cody Gakpo
Best odds: 41.0 (Coral)
Gakpo contributed 10 goals to Liverpool’s title win. The Left-sided forward will benefit from the departures of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez. A regular Liverpool starting forward at 41.0 odds could be a sensible selection.
Omar Marmoush
Best odds: 67.0 (William Hill)
After joining City in January 2025, Marmoush netted seven goals in only 16 EPL games. Now adjusting to Pep Guardiola’s tactics, the Moroccan is City’s main forward alongside Haaland.
Chris Wood
Best odds: 51.0 (Bet365)
Forest’s main target man hit 20 goals as they finished 7th in their previous campaign. Rarely injured or rested, Wood is a reliable scorer at tempting odds.
Antoine Semenyo
Best odds: 251.0 (Betfred)
Semenyo’s opening day double at Liverpool showed how dangerous he can be. The Bournemouth left-winger bagged 11 goals in the 24/25 season, and looks each-way value at massive double-figure odds.
Golden Boot Race: What To Consider
Many factors can improve or affect a player’s scoring potential:
- Penalty duties: A nominated penalty taker can have more chances to add to their overall goal tally.
- Fitness and injury record: Consider if the player is currently out injured or has a poor fitness record.
- Team tactics: Playing for an attacking team offers more scoring chances. But a defence-minded side creates fewer opportunities.
- Squad rotation: A Champions League player may be rested for EPL fixtures against lower-ranked teams.
- Home/away form: A player might struggle to score in away fixtures compared to home games.
Best Value Predictions
After considering the above contenders, which three selections offer standout value at the current odds?
Top Prediction
Hugo Ekitike at 13.0 seems top value among the favourites selections. The Frenchman hit 15 goals in 33 Bundesliga matches last season for Eintracht Frankfurt. He has adapted straight away to a Liverpool’s team that fired 86 EPL goals in 2024-2025.
Each-way Value
The next two selections may be worth backing each-way. You can get a quarter of the odds each-way to finish in the top 4 EPL goalscorers.
Cody Gakpo at 41.0 looks overpriced. Growing in confidence, the Dutchman can make a play for top goalscorer honours.

Omar Marmoush at longer odds of 67.0 is underestimated by the bookmakers. After a full pre-season, he can continue to justify City’s £59+ million investment.
With so many players to consider, also look for potential value in:
- Richarlison (41.0 at Ladbrokes) – Enjoying a new start at Spurs under Thomas Frank.
- Jean-Philippe Mateta (51.0 at Betfred) – FA Cup winning Crystal Palace striker. Claimed 14 EPL goals last term.
- Yoane Wissa (67.0 at Betway) – Hit 19 goals for Brentford last season.
- Bryan Mbuemo (67.0 at Betfred) – Man Utd forward. Scored 20 goals for Brentford in 2024/25.
