Nostrabet's Analysis

The teams of Wigan and Leyton Orient are above the relegation zone, but only just, meaning they must approach their upcoming clash with utmost seriousness. The pressure is particularly palpable on Wigan, who are only two points clear of the danger zone, and any mistake could prove costly.

Strong home side against a team in form

In the past month, Wigan has shown some improvement in their performance, but the team remains inconsistent, primarily relying on their home ground, where they have won 4 of their last 5 matches. Meanwhile, Leyton Orient is in excellent form, achieving four victories and one draw in their last five league matches. Even more impressively, they have not conceded a goal in their last three direct encounters with Wigan, having previously defeated them 2-0 earlier in the season.

Prediction: Draw

It is solely Wigan's home advantage that leads to the expectation that they will not lose; however, considering Leyton Orient's strong form, the most logical outcome appears to be a draw.

Nostrabet's Analysis

Doncaster and Mansfield find themselves in the mid-table of the League One standings, but the visitors possess some potential to climb higher. This is due to the fact that Mansfield have played fewer matches than some of their direct rivals – two fewer than some, and even three fewer than others, which opens up the possibility for a strong finish to the season.

History of Goals Between Them

Mansfield have gone six consecutive league matches without a loss, although only two of those have resulted in victories. In the first half of the season, they lost to Doncaster, and interestingly, every one of the last seven encounters between the two teams has ended with goals at both ends. Doncaster are also enjoying a good run, having gone five matches without defeat, during which they have shown some improvement in defence.

Prediction: Draw and Both Teams to Score

Considering Doncaster's home advantage and the good form of both teams, a draw appears to be a plausible outcome. At the same time, the history of their direct encounters suggests that we are likely to see goals from both sides once again.

2.06
Nostrabet's Analysis

Stockport currently sits within the top six of the temporary standings, but the competition for these positions is fierce, with their next opponent, Wycombe, also in contention. However, the visitors continue to show inconsistency in their performances, despite winning five of their last eight matches, which is still a positive indicator.

The Strength of Home Advantage

Stockport has also displayed some inconsistency, but this is almost non-existent when they play at home. In their last eight home league matches, they have achieved seven victories and one draw, clearly highlighting their advantage in such encounters. Additionally, it is worth noting that earlier in the season, Stockport managed to defeat this opponent once already.

Prediction: Stockport to Win

Considering their strong home performance and the success they have already had against Wycombe this season, the expectation is that Stockport will once again find a way to secure all three points.

15:00RotherhamStevenage
Over 1.5 Goals
1.42
Nostrabet's Analysis

The situation for Rotherham is far from promising, as the team has not secured a victory in five consecutive league matches, with four of those games resulting in them failing to score. They currently sit below the relegation line and are in urgent need of points in the upcoming clash against Stevenage. However, playing at home may prove to be a crucial factor, as their performances on home turf are slightly better.

Defensive Weaknesses on Both Sides

Stevenage also have their own objectives, aiming for a spot in the top six. The team has won six of their last nine league matches, but the other three resulted in defeats. A significant issue for them has been their away form, with seven of their last eight away games ending in losses. Meanwhile, Rotherham have shown considerable defensive frailties, conceding a total of ten goals in their last three matches, and Stevenage also struggle defensively when playing away.

Prediction: Over 1.5 Goals

Considering the defensive issues faced by both teams, the expectation is for an open and high-scoring match, where the line of at least two goals will likely be surpassed.

15:00PlymouthBolton
Double Chance: 1x
1.47
Nostrabet's Analysis

After failing to secure a victory in their last three league matches, Bolton appears to have surrendered their fight for a top-two finish. Their current primary objective is to maintain a position in the top six, which would guarantee them a spot in the playoffs.

Strong home side on the rise

However, they face a significant challenge against Plymouth, who have been impressive in the second half of the season. They have won seven of their last nine league matches and are currently on a streak of four consecutive home victories. Although Bolton managed to defeat this opponent earlier in the season, the current circumstances seem different, with the hosts entering the match with greater momentum.

Prediction: 1X

Considering Plymouth's strong home form and Bolton's inconsistencies, it is anticipated that the hosts will avoid defeat, with a draw also appearing to be a very plausible outcome for this encounter.

15:00LutonPeterborough
Over 2.5 Goals
1.56
Nostrabet's Analysis

Luton and Peterborough are currently level in the middle of the table, each with 15 victories since the start of the season, making their upcoming clash particularly intriguing. Luton appears to hold a slight advantage, primarily due to their home ground, where they have suffered only one defeat in their last 12 league matches.

Tradition of high-scoring matches

Peterborough, on the other hand, have been struggling on their travels, having gone five consecutive away games without a win. In head-to-head encounters, Luton also has the upper hand, remaining unbeaten in their last five matches against this opponent, with four victories to their name. Notably, there has been a trend of goals – every one of Luton's last nine games has ended with both teams scoring, while Peterborough has seen this occur in five of their last six matches.

Prediction: Both teams to score

Considering the trends of both teams and the frequent goals in their matches, it is anticipated that we will see goals from both sides once again.

15:00LincolnAFC Wimbledon
Asian Handicap: Home -1.5
2.29
Nostrabet's Analysis

Lincoln are determined to secure the First League title and it is evident that they have no intention of slowing down. They are currently on a remarkable run of 22 consecutive league matches without a loss, the majority of which have ended in victories. Their home performances are even more impressive, as they consistently achieve success, often with significant scorelines.

Concerns for Wimbledon

This situation is undoubtedly worrying for Wimbledon, who have managed to earn only one point from their last four league matches. Additionally, they are among the teams that have conceded the most goals, although they are not currently in immediate danger of relegation. Interestingly, Wimbledon won the first match against Lincoln, but that game saw the visitors playing with ten men for a significant portion after an early red card.

Prediction: Lincoln to win by a margin

Considering the current form and strong home advantage, it is anticipated that Lincoln will take their revenge this time, potentially doing so in a more convincing manner, with a victory by more than one goal difference appearing to be a realistic scenario.

15:00HuddersfieldReading
Anytime goal scorer: Ryan Ledson
8.00
Nostrabet's Analysis

Reading currently occupies the bottom spot in the top six and must be particularly cautious, as there are several teams ready to take their position. The team has been performing consistently, with victories being more frequent, but a challenging encounter against Huddersfield is anticipated.

Strong Home Advantage for Huddersfield

Huddersfield comes into this match following three consecutive league games without a win, but they are significantly more confident when playing at home. In their 19 home fixtures this season, they have only suffered two defeats, which were quite some time ago. Earlier in the season, Reading lost at home to this opponent, and given the current form of both teams, Huddersfield is expected to have the upper hand.

Prediction: Huddersfield to Win

Considering Huddersfield's home form and the previous result between the two teams, the expectation is that they will secure a victory in this match as well.

15:00Burton AlbionBarnsley
Both Teams Score
1.65
Nostrabet's Analysis

Burton continue to alternate between wins and losses, which keeps their fight for survival ongoing. This week, they are set to host the equally inconsistent Barnsley, who have not secured a victory in their last four matches. Earlier in the season, the two teams engaged in a thrilling encounter that ended 3-2 in favour of Barnsley, who have not lost to this opponent in their last five clashes, winning four of those matches.

Barnsley Struggling on the Road

However, Barnsley have found it difficult to win away from home, managing only one victory in their last ten away games. Burton are also not particularly stable, alternating between wins and losses, making this match unpredictable. Nevertheless, the history of previous encounters suggests that both teams often engage in high-scoring games.

Prediction: Both Teams to Score

It is anticipated that the match will be high-scoring, with goals expected at both ends, following the trend from their previous meetings and Barnsley's recent matches.

15:00BradfordNorthampton
Bradford to win
1.44
Nostrabet's Analysis

Northampton finds itself deep in the relegation zone, and the outlook is grim if they continue to lose matches. They have gone nine consecutive league games without a win, with seven of those resulting in defeats. Their away form is particularly dreadful, and now they face a trip to Bradford.

Bradford in good home form

Bradford is currently in the top six and ranks among the strongest home teams in the league. They have won five of their last six home matches, although their first encounter this season against Northampton ended in a goalless draw. Nevertheless, it is anticipated that they will have no issues securing all three points at home.

Prediction: Bradford to win

Considering the form of both teams and Bradford's excellent home performance, it is believed that they will manage to win the match and maintain their position in the top six.

15:00BlackpoolExeter City
Blackpool to win
2.20
Nostrabet's Analysis

Blackpool and Exeter are set to face off in a crucial battle for survival, with only two points separating the two teams ahead of the upcoming match. Exeter find themselves below the relegation line, while Blackpool are managing to stay afloat for now. The primary issue for Exeter is their poor form, having gone 14 consecutive league matches without a victory, and they have recently seen an increase in defeats.

Blackpool hold the home advantage

Blackpool have also experienced a negative streak, but in their last three league matches, they have recorded two wins and one draw. They will be playing at home, where they have won three of their last four matches. Additionally, they will be looking for revenge after suffering a heavy defeat in the first encounter with this opponent.

Prediction: Blackpool to win

The home advantage, combined with Blackpool's better form, suggests that they will manage to secure a victory in this match and strengthen their position above the relegation zone.

When Are League 1 Predictions Released?

Generally, tips are published between 24 and 48 hours before matches. We believe it is important to give you enough time to back your selections and obtain any early value the market may offer. However, our League One predictions avoid being too early and missing key team and injury news.

League 1 Predictions Table for the 2025/2026 Season

All high-quality football betting sites offer outright markets for League 1. Therefore, our League 1 tips and predictions include how we expect the table to finish. You can see our experts’ predictions for the final table below. You can use this as a starting point for a range of bets. Indeed, the title race, play-offs, promotion and relegation are all betting options to consider.

English League 1 Promotion Predictions

League 1 is far less predictable than many divisions around Europe. There are probably 10 or 12 teams that have a chance of grabbing one of the two automatic promotion spots. Luton is a worthy favourite and will probably go up. Cardiff and Stockport also have great chances. However, we believe that Bolton may be the value pick at longer odds, with Bradford also tempting.

League 1 Playoff Contenders

Making League 1 predictions today is far from easy. Indeed, 18 of the 24 teams are priced at single-digit odds for a top-six finish. That illustrates just how open the division is. Making English League 1 predictions is never easy, but this season it looks especially tricky. Obviously, the teams that are well fancied for the title should contend for the playoffs at the very least. Indeed, the top four in the League 1 top-six odds are all odds-on.

However, looking at value once again, it may be better to plump for an outsider, such as Plymouth, Wigan, or Bradford. Doncaster could also mount a challenge after winning League 2 last term.

EFL League One Relegation Battle Predictions

Four clubs are relegated from League 1, so many teams are likely to be battling the drop. 17 teams are shorter than 10/1 to go down. Moreover, Plymouth, who we feel can make the play-offs, are only 11/1 to be relegated, and Doncaster are just 5/1!

However, AFC Wimbledon are an obvious pick. They finished just fifth in League 2 last season. Fellow new boys, Port Vale, look up against it too, and their squad looks short on class at this level. Moreover, the likes of Mansfield, Northampton, Burton and Lincoln are all operating on budgets that make it difficult to be competitive at this level.

Top Scorer & Golden Boot Predictions

Alfie May is the obvious choice here, but we are not convinced Huddersfield will have a great season. Yousef Salech is also fancied to do well for Cardiff. However, in such an open market, we favour a few each-way bets at longer odds.

Therefore, consider Nahki Wells, despite being in the latter stages of his career, or Malik Mothersille, of Stockport. Indeed, his teammate, Kyle Wooton, also appeals. Ex-Wrexham hero Paul Mullin may also be worth a punt, and he certainly has a point to prove.

At Nostrabet, our in-depth bookie reviews offer excellent guidance, and you can see how we rank all the major bookmakers. However, we only work with highly reputable sites. Moreover, all of them offer excellent League 1 betting options.

Additionally, you can combine many of these markets into bet builders. Alternatively, you can place bets on different games and create an acca.

Are There Any Bonus Offers for Betting on SkyBet League 1?

Bookmakers offer fewer betting offers for League 1 than they do for the Premier League. However, UK betting offers for new customers can generally be used on any competition, including League 1.

Bookies offer welcome bonuses, but they also provide promos for existing customers. Similarly, you can use many of these for League 1 games and other leagues and cups. For example, you might see odds boosts on League 1 games, or acca bonuses, or bigger payouts for League 1 bet builders. Equally, many sites that offer early payouts (if a team takes a two-goal lead, or leads after normal time), or promotions that include subs, make these eligible for League 1 bets.

League 1 Betting Tips & Expert Strategies

When it comes to betting on the English third tier, we suggest using our League 1 predictions and betting tips as a starting point. No tips are guaranteed to win. Therefore, we recommend doing your own research as well.

Research should cover a wide range of stats and factors. You may find it a little easier to spot value in League One than in the Premier League or Champions League because bookmakers are not quite as comprehensive in their own analysis. It is also possible for fans and punters to gain access to players in a way that is not feasible in the Premier League. This might allow well-informed punters to get ahead of the game by learning about injury news, squad rotation or tactical changes before the bookies do.

In general, however, betting on League 1 is much like betting on other competitions. The more you understand about the teams, players, managers, conditions and any other factors that might affect the outcome, the better your chances of finding value.

However, in terms of simply finding winning bets, looking at some basic statistics is a good place to start. For example, last season League 1 games saw an average of almost four yellow cards a game, and each game averaged 2.58 goals. The Premier League witnessed far fewer cards and almost three goals, so backing bookings in League 1 and under 2.5 goals could be a good bet. Notably, 43% of matches last term were home wins, so you simply have to factor in home advantage.
